WINGS Fellow Anna Cummins will give a presentation at Top of the Garden Monday May 5, 2014 about her work with the garbage patches of the Pacific

Join us to hear Anna Cummins, Executive Director of The 5 Gyres Institute, share her organization's work researching plastic pollution across the world's oceans, and engaging communities in solutions. in 2011, 5 Gyres completed the first global survey on plastic pollution in the 5 subtropical gyres or "garbage patches", oceanic regions where plastic concentrates. Learn how to get involved in keeping plastic out of our oceans and water systems - including a surprising source you may find in your bathroom cupboard!

Anna received her undergraduate from Stanford University, and her Masters in International Environmental Policy from the Monterey Institute for International Studies. Anna and her husband Dr. Marcus Eriksen co-founded The 5 Gyres Institute in 2009, seeing a gap in global research on plastic pollution. They currently live in Los Angeles with their 19 month old baby girl Avani.
