Programs
iExplore; Your Dream, Your Journey!
From deep sea diving to high altitude climbing, women today are everywhere seeking answers to Nature's most compelling mysteries. iExplore! is being developed to bring the extraordinary stories and accomplishments of the WINGS Fellows to middle and high school students to help them discover the explorer in themselves and show that we each can make a difference in own way.
Inspiring role models can be vital catalysts for the development of positive self-image and confidence and encourage young people to believe in themselves and their dreams. Through dvd interviews, written stories and inquiry based activities, these women explorers demonstrate that creative ideas, risk-taking, perseverance, careful planning, and hard work pave the path to success. They prove that dreams can be made a reality.
iExplore! is currently being piloted in schools and other educational programs. For more information about the program or becoming a pilot participant please contact WINGS Director, Programming and Education, Susan Colacello at: susan@wingsworldquest.org
Art of Exploration
For the past four years, WINGS has partnered with Imagination Celebration of Fort Worth Texas to bring the Art of Exploration to over 10,000 students in the Fort Worth area. The program includes three full days of lectures, discussion and hands-on learning experiences led by WINGS Fellows and other artists and scientists.
Created by Milbry Polk, co-founder and Director of WINGS WorldQuest and Ginger Head, Founder and Director of Imagination Celebration of Fort Worth, Texas, (ICFW), the purpose of the program is to introduce young people to the excitement and importance of exploration through personal encounters with real life explorers and artists. Each year, approximately 2,000 students and teachers participate in the workshops with also include teacher trainings and public lectures. Imagine Notes are produced on each explorer as a supplemental resource for classroom instruction and student's independent learning.
